Norwegian learners' problems:
Listen

This sound is much like a short "a"-sound in many Norwegian dialects. Norwegian "katt" and English "cut" will then sound very much the same. Some Norwegians tend to round their lips and pronounce the sound almost like an "ø"-sound. Take care not to round your lips when saying .

Regional variant: In the North of England this sound is regularly produced as a short -sound, so that "luck" becomes like "look" and "bus" ( ) becomes .
