The
group Living Percussion presents a programme in which introduces ancient
Aztecs and Mayan instruments into a specially designed orchestra and the
students play a different instrument in each of the pieces.
We present the Huehuetl, an ancient tripod drum, the Tepozantle, a two
tones wood instrument, Ocarinas, mud Aztec flutes, and Sonajas, Aztec
instrument made of the crust of the seeds of a plant. Combining all this
"new sounds" with xylophones, metal phones from the south of
the country, piano cymbals, a drum set, we interpret music specially composed
for children by Mr. Cesar Tort, Mexican composer.
