Finn and Sami myths

Finn and Sami myths
The Finn and Sami peoples own totally different mythologies than the other Nordic peoples. This is due to the very different cultural background belonging to the original tribes that peopled these areas in the far past.

We find shamanistic religions in many areas of the world, especially belonging to the idigenous peoples of the North. In modern times interest has blossomed anew for the music, the myths and the shamanistic rites from these regions.

Shamanism and healing in a historical perspective

"Shamanism is the part of the Sami cultural tradition which is pertinent to illness and healing. Even if much of the old knowledge has been lost, we assume that it represents attitudes that are part of of the people's history and culture, and which to a degree still influences people's ways of life and thoughts."
